The lake and pond are worth it! We walked around the lake and kept our dog on the leash as required. Lily Pad Lake is a well known destination just outside of Silverthorne and in the Eagle's Nest Wilderness. We loved the trail but the elevation gain is more than 396ft. It starts out with some incline that left me breathless (I'm a lowlander - not used to the altitude), but once you're on the Lily Pad Lake trail it is not so steep. The lake is very scenic. Bring water and a snack so you can enjoy the lake before the return trip.

Initially, the trail travels south through thick stands of lodgepole pine and aspen. Large rocks and tree roots cover most of the undulating trail. Saw lots of people only in sandals. great little hike.Great hike, but it was hard for me at first. It is a very wooded trail , and there is a lot going on if you listen!
Spend an entire day in the mountains and enjoy a few easy hikes (if desired) with spectacular views of Lake Dillon. Oh, and adorable ground squirrels that wanted some of our lunch. Lake is very pretty. Overall I’d say the hike is probably not easy for kiddos under 5 (my youngest is almost 3).
