Ashe County Fire Marshal Bob Davis said the fire is still under investigation.A fire destroyed a mobile home at 1084 Muddy Branch Road in Creston on Thursday, Oct. 10, according to Ashe County Fire Marshal Bob Davis.The single wide mobile home, which was rented to Charles Ledford and his daughter, was unoccupied at the time of the blaze, which started at approximately 5:45 a.m., according to Davis.“No one was home and hadn’t been since the day before,” Davis said.The fire started in the living room, according to Davis, and the mobile home was fully involved by the time emergency personnel arrived on scene, including the Pond Mountain, Creston and Warrensville Volunteer Fire Departments and the Ashe County Rescue Squad. During and after construction, Fire Inspectors ensure and test fire prevention systems for proper installation and operation.Fire Inspectors conduct routine inspections of businesses, schools, foster homes, daycares on either a one, two or three year cycle as outlined in the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code.
