The point of a sequel is to immerse the viewer further into the story. What will happen to the Collins family? Sinister 2 takes imagery and devices that you've seen before, and makes them feel even more worn down and cliché that they were already. It doesn't replicate the formula of the original as much as it elaborates on it.
Idk. What made Sinister good, was that it capitalized on it's opportunities to scare, and gave the audience what it wanted, horror. Great plot line!!!

A qualitative improvement over its predecessor, the sporadically bone-trembling Sinister 2 won't proselytize anyone who loathed the original but it's a step forward. Yet, quantity usually triumphs over quality and thus leaving many franchises to quickly run out of steam due to lack of interest and just trying to make a quick cash-in. Even with the last half of the film's execution being almost transparent in predictability and protagonists that weren't the easiest to sympathize with, its first half was exceptionally well crafted in its premise and its mysterious clues that was left behind. July 5, 2019 16 out of 24 found this helpful. The murder footage with the creepy music is back and, while it is the best part of the film, it just feels like regurgitating what came before without actually really trying to expand too much on what was done prior.
So for this sequel, Derrickson plays just a writer and it seemed that it was a better choice.

1,5 points to plot, it is the same from the first, but the first has a good plot. TV After the death of the Oswalt family a former deputy turned private investigator attempts to break Bughuul's cycle by burning down the houses of its victims to prevent him from cultivating new ones, but when he discovers a mother (played by Shannyn Sossamon) and her two sons living at a farmhouse that was one of the crime scenes he tries to find a way to save them before Bughuul can get to them. Sinister 3?
Sinister 2 is all about the feeling that something evil, menacing, and disturbing will happen; that's what it literally leaves you hoping for.
However, Zach in Sinister 2 WANTS to kill his family even before his possession in order to gain favor with Bughuul.
I think the cast wasn't quite as strong and it didn't have the experience and Hollywood clout that Ethan Hawke brought to the table. 2 0 4 *shrug* First of all , hello !

Sinister 2 dispenses with the atmosphere and relegates the perennial baddie, Bughuul, to essentially a running cameo since he has maybe 20 seconds of overall screen time (all of which are jump scares telegraphed so well in advance that it saps them of even the most basic fear factor of surprise). 16 out of 21 found this helpful.
